I feel kinda shamefaced over this, but it seems awfully strange <sigh />.
I tried setting my config to the values you published, but made no difference.
Then, while proofing, I noticed the you had
session.save_handler files files,
and I had
session.save_handler file file,
I changed the singular _file_ entry to the plural _files_ entry and sessions
once again worked.
Have no idea how the value was originally changed to file <sigh />.
