[PHP-WIN] PHP and Windows 98

HI,

I am trying to run scripts on a windows 98SE based system running apache 1.3.2 and PHP 4.2 The problems i have is that the php scripts will not run correctly and when called in a MySQL database it will not add or alter. Can anybody help short of gettin a new O.S will a different server or database help???
