Yes, and no. Yes, because it IS possible. No, because it is a pain to get it to work with the new versions of php (>4.2) It is some kind of versionsystem for modules buildt into php, that renders the standard GD2 module useless. GD1 should work as it it in the kernel, but I haven't tried it. The solution is prolly to compile the GD2-lib by yourself, or wait until someone does it and puts it out for downloads.
