I have recently installed PHP 4.2 on a server running win2k. There is no SQL Server database running on this particular machine. I want to connect to an SQL Server DB on another machine on the same network.
Now, do I need to have atleast the client tools installed in order to do this? Or, can I just setup an ODBC source? Because they (my coworkers) don't want to install SQLServer2k on the machine (running the PHP). (I have the php_mssql.dll enabled). Any suggestions to get around not having to install any additional files in order to connect to an SQLServer2k database? I notice I am also having trouble connecting to MySQL which is on the same machine as PHP4.2. I have register globals on. I'm used to PHP 4.0.6. But I need to get up to speed with the last PHP. I just need to know if I am overlooking something in the PHP.ini file. Thanks in advance for any ideas!
