Has anyone had any experience with setting up PHP (CGI version) with AnalogX's
SimpleServer:WWW? ( http://www.analogx.com )

I've been looking for any docos on this and have not found anything. Also, even
though the SimpleServer page indicates that the author has been using this with
PHP, there is no info on the site as to how, and the author has not responded
to any queries.

I have used apache and that is fine for my purposes, but I am setting this up
for someone who is just starting out in web programming and wants a simple,
easily maintained system: For a basic web-server, SimpleServer meets that need
nicely, if only I could get PHP going too =)

PS: I have PHP working fine for parsing files, it's only when I try to get this
to go through the server that things go wrong: An empty page with opening and
closing HTML, HEAD and BODY tags is produced.

Cheers!

I'm using the SMTP server that my company owns, but it takes forever just to
send one email message. Trying to send a batch of emails with PHP's mail()
function takes so long, that the script expires and I get an error message.

I tried searching the archives of this list, but that search page seems to
be broken.

Thanks!

I hope you're not spamming... ;)

In php.ini:

max_execution_time=30 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in
seconds

Change it to what you need. The speed is pretty much dependent on your SMTP
server though.

Yeah, I know about the max time variable, but it would be unacceptable to
take over a minute or two to send a handful of emails!

I read an article that said you could use your ISP's SMTP server for the
mail() function, but that didn't seem to work.

You should be able to do it, I know I do:

[mail function]
; For Win32 only.
SMTP= smtp.isp.com ; for Win32 only

; For Win32 only.
sendmail_from= [EMAIL PROTECTED] ; for Win32 only

However, I'm aware that this is an extremely pernickity thing, and that lots
of people have problems getting it to work

Hand on your heart: Do you really believe that this is due to a slowness in
the mail() function of php?

It might, and is probably, related to your own network. For example: have
you check the ICMP traffic, to see if your network traffic is routed
correctly? You might have a router in the routing list that is a "wacko"
router, and that might causes sporadic network hangs, and disconnection's.

        /Anders

Getting this message on PHP 4.1.1 and not sure why! Anyone else seen the popup
message running PHP in CGI mode saying "Application failed to initialize...."?

Thanks!

I am trying to invoke COM on NT using the following line of code

$outl = new COM("Outlook.Application") or die("Unable to instantiate
Outlook");

and I get a DR.Watson alert for php.exe shows an "access violation". This
is my first attempt to exercise COM on this site, so it could be something
like a missing dll, or extension. What should I look for? should I precede
this with a dl("php_xxxx.dll") to load an extension, if so which one?

thanks in advance,

COM support is included in the win binaries, you don't need any dll to use
it.
You probably need to set the permissions for the specific program that you
are trying to instantiate (outlook). Use the DCOMcnfg.exe file.

Hello, all!

I did install PHP in Windows and Linux. I can compile standard php4ts.dll.
But I can't compile files from /ext. I can't run examples. And it is that I
need.
I became 22 errors. I wanted to write foo.c program, this help connect our
dll to
PHP. But I try Extending_PHP and have no success. May be project
adjustments?

The major problem is that it works perfectly fine when I use the same thing
with the Apache web server.

I have installed both IIS and Apache on my computer (Windows 2000 Advanced
Server) and I configured PHP to work with both of them. Of course I can't
keep both web servers working in the same time and on the same port (80).
So, when I use Apache, I turn off IIS and viceversa. I have configured the
same webdirectories so I won't have problems accessing web applications. PHP
works fine with both webservers except with connecting to ODBC.

Running Apache this code works PERFECTLY FINE (no errors):
<?php
odbc_connect("DBTest", "", "");
?>

but running IIS 5 it will give me a horrible error:
"Warning: SQL error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] The Microsoft
Jet database engine cannot open the file (unknown)'. It is already opened
exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data., SQL
state S1000 in SQLConnect in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\directory\Test.php on line
3"

I checked out everything and I don't have any "exclusive" settings on my
ODBC data sources.
