Whomever is responsible for this list server fix it.

I get far too many e-mail like the following from this list and I can only conclude that the mail system in use has no spam management software of any kind since this e-mail address has been sending these emails tthrough the list for quite some time (dating back to March 2006).

Asking me to block this account in all of my e-mail client and those of the roughly 2000 other users of which some might be on this list is unrealistic unless you can accept the bounces for these emails without affecting or altering the users account subscription/standing.

So that we have a clear understanding of your failure to take action, it means that the bounce would cause a minimum response of 4 e-mails, the initial bounce, a notice to the list/listowner, one the the list servers abuse department and one to your ISP's abuse department and if this occurs from each person/account who processes this email due to your recommendation of handling it this way, it would increase exponentially thus a single e-mail could result in 50+ emails sent to the list alone.

It's pretty simple, install some kind of spam management software that is effective and remove the offending account, I have far to many e-mail servers (roughly 34 throughout the US) and 7 accounts to this list (one in each corporate location IT department and a personal account) to worry about and the simple solution for me would be to register a complaint with the authorities if you take no action to curb/prevent this illegal activity and I will begin bouncing these e-mails through a proxy to ensure that you receive and accept them.

********** This is an automated reply to your message to Email Abuse. **********

Your message has been delivered to our email abuse department. This department handles complaints from users that are receiving unwanted email. We try our best to investigate all reports of abuse. If we determine that the email you reported was in fact sent from an email address at one of our domains, or by way of computers operated by us, we will take the appropriate action.

If you did not include the original "message headers" along with your message, please do so by replying to this message, leaving the subject line intact (which contains our tracking identification), and including all email headers. Email headers show specific details regarding the source provider, path, originating program, and destination of the message which is not shown within the TO: and FROM: address fields of the email.

Unfortunately, "spammers" use a variety of techniques to mask an email's actual point of origin, such as by forging information to make it appear as though the email originated from a domain that is well recognized across the Internet. Accordingly, the information in the header is very helpful in assisting us in our investigation.

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention.

Regards,

The Email Abuse Department
