Is the LDFLAGS-path a typo? Should it perhaps be
LDFLAGS="-R/usr/local/phplibs/libxml2:/usr/local"
(... with the ':' separating the two paths.)
Either way, I do not believe setting the -R-flag to the linker will
work, as I think that only adds paths to the binaries' RUNPATH (for
linked binaries). Caveat: I'm not an expert at this :)
