Ok, I'm pissed off now..
I have posted here recently, didn't lead very far, I'm trying again for the
last time.
I am running OpenBSD 3.7 i386 Generic #50 stable release.
I have already compiled and installed [and running] Apache 2.0.55..
And yes I have configured and compiled with DSO support via --enable-so
I have compiled and installed [and running] mySQL 5.0.15
NOW I WANT PHP to work..
I have tried everything from php4, 4.1, 5, 5.0.x-dev [from the snapshots].
All stable releases..
No luck, every single time I build them with anything more than this
configure line:
./configure --with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs
it will fail upon make install..
Make seems to be happy, some warnings along the way for some extensions, but
I always ALWAYS will get this output from make install if I add even a
module or two in extensions [ie mysql, mysqli, gettext, imap, ftp etc..]

WHY is this happening?? I have since reinstalled OpenBSD3.7 anew, and
installed NOTHING yet except bare essential required libs just to get httpd
and mysql to go and now onto php..
What does it mean? I have already read around the net and it is NOT a unique
error, it is quite infamous this ugly apxs rc=65536 error..
I am just desperate now, it has now been 3 weeks to date that I have been
trying to struggle and find an avenue of escape to this error..
Variations of configure commands, different versions of libraries, etc etc
etc..
I have virtually lost hope of running PHP of any flavour on this box... And
its just a standard openBSD3.7 install. No fancy trims or customisations...
Please please somebody help me or shoot me or point me in the right
direction..
I MUST use PHP, as any of you avid PHP coders would know, there is no
substitute for quality. Its PHP or nothing.
I really didn't want to come in with a desperate plea like this but I just
cannot understand what the error is telling me, I have searched the lines
where the error is generated in the makefile but it doesn't really lead to
anything I can pinpoint...
Anything you can throw my way would be of assistance..
And don't throw the "packages" argument at me, I'm more keen to build, and
the packages gave me grief last time too..
Thank you so much for any help you can offer..
It is GREATLY appreciated..
