Never mind, we decided to ditch PHP for this project and use mod_perl:
1) since its more secure, reliable and extendable out of the box (IE you can add most functionality without worrying about rebuilding apache)
as is PHP
2) Its more intuitive and extendable
well thats a rather subjective statement
3) The support lists are way better (IE this email just needed a simple "Yes" and got nothing for several days)
lol, well the answer was "yes" as you seem to have known anyhow (and which quite obvious from the instructions). As you also no doubt know this is a completely community driven list where we all (well most of us I guess) have real jobs to do and just try to help out when we can. So sorry we couldn't just drop everything and answer your question before "several days" passed.
So based on that our latest servers will not have PHP on them
Thanks for helping us finalize the decision :)
anything to help out, glad we made your decision easier :) You might do well to remember though, not to look a gift horse in the mouth or bite the hand that feeds you. If you want on the spot answers and solutions to problems perhaps put a professional on staff, but if you want the free ride you might just have to be patient from time to time...
