You didn't answer all of my questions. You are not providing enough information for anyone to help you. Going on the limited information you have provided, I am assuming that you did the usual './configure && make && make install', and that it was succesful. Since you say that there are no errors given by apachectl, I am left to assume that apache *is* starting fine. What exactly makes you think it isn't? More info please.

./configure && make && make install works fine withour errors.

Apache is configure with --enable-so --with-mysql make && make install works
fine and without any errors. My distribution is Debian. Apache starts fine
without php. But when i uncomment the loadmod-command from php4 it wont
start anymore.

There some questions, who arent answered?

Yes. The main question I have is *how* do you know that apache won't start? Is there an error message printed to the terminal? Is there something in the logs? Are you just not able to bring up the start page? What exactly leads you to know that apache is not starting when you uncomment the loadmodule lines?
