Well, here is my problem: You can't run PHP4 and PHP5 on one Windows machine (under the same apache instance). I've searched for workarounds, but those only work on Unix systems :/.
There is just ONE possible solution: I have to compile PHP for windows with a hardcoded configuration path. But I don't have the applications to do that. However, there could be a simple fix for this problem: PHP should load the configuration file by it's version number. For instance, PHP3 has a php3.ini configuration file. PHP4 and 5 should also have. Problem solved! You could simply separate the different configuration files by using different filenames. php5.ini for PHP5, and php4.ini for PHP4. This would be very nice, and certainly for Windows users. I don't have a Unix/Linux server, and would like to use PHP4 and PHP5 on my laptop. I hope the PHP devvers like this proposal...
