I use it as well, and not a problem with it for a few releases. If you want
to do the administration work there is another program called
mysqladministrator (available on www.mysql.com) otherwise read through the
mysql documentation as there is a getting started section that has some of
the basic commands.

I recently used the following tutorial http://internetmaster.com/installtutorial/index.htm to download, install, and configure apache, php, and mysql. It is and excelent tutorial which steps through the entire process in a way almost anyone could understand it. I got it all to work on the first try!
Having said that, there is one thing that's being problematic. It's 'MySQL Control Center.' The tutorial has you download it http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysqlcc.html in order to make things easier for the inexperienced user, and when the program works, it does just that.
Problem is that the program doesn't work very often. The tutorial has you download a beta version. Between crashes, it worked just enough to configure mysql. Someone suggested upgrading to non beta. I did and that one won't work at all.(see attached error msg.) Is this a problem with the program, or what?
Also, does anyone know of a tutorial on 'command line' ways to do the things that 'MySQL Control Center'does, (or would do if it ran properly?) ------------------ If you're having that much trouble and want an interface, try
phpmyadmin.
I suspect the real issue is between MySQL CC and Win98. as i use it on
both
2000 and XP connecting to MySQLs on Windows and *NIX and it works great.
