[PHP-INSTALL] solaris gcc problem ...

bash-2.03$ ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/stronghold/bin/apxs
creating cache ./config.cache
checking host system type... sparc-sun-solaris2.8
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.

 

any ideas on this one?

bash-2.03$ which gcc
/usr/local/bin/gcc

 

bash-2.03$ gcc --version
2.95.3
