phpa has nothing to do with Apache though. I don't see any reason for that to not work with the Apache 2 PHP module. As for Apache2 being faster. Perhaps in some situations for static pages it is, but for dynamic pages it is hard to make the case for Apache2 being faster as the bucket brigade architecture gets in the way somewhat.
