The problem is php_mysql is not installed with the "default" web applications in 8.0. Installed the php_mysql rpm and mysql now appears in the phpinfo page. But the problem now is when trying to access mysql thru phpmyadmin I get an error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query ?? jrt
