Are you trying to use it as DSO or compiled into Apache? Gcc or Aix Cset
compiler? Are you using Aix make? Aix m4?
I found compiling PHP under Aix a real real pain.

You did not include the error message you are getting. I am also having
a problem with make on AIX 4.3.3.
There are my error messages. Anyone have any experience with this one?
I am using GNU assembler 2.9.1 (as) if that helps.

I'm trying to install PHP 4.2.1 on RH7.2 with support for MySQL 3.23.49a
I'm getting the following error when running configure:
checking for mysql_close in -lmysqlclient... no
checking for mysql_error in -lmysqlclient... no
configure: error: mysql configure failed. Please check config.log for
more information
The relevant output from config.log is contained below:

char mysql_error();
int main() {
mysql_error()

The configure statement uses "--with-mysql=/usr" and the mysql library
files are under /usr/lib/mysql. I have also added /usr/lib/mysql and
/usr/lib to the ld.so.conf file and run ldconfig.
Before trying to build PHP I installed all the MySQL rpms (mysql,
client, shared, devel) successfully and I was able to start, configure
and use the MySQL database with no problems.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This is probably totally incorrect, but I see mention
of "krb5" in the error, I'm pretty sure this is the kerberos 5
encryption library and ofcourse this may be a totally acceptable
error since as far as I know "krb5" is not required, but just
out of curiosity, have you tried rebooting since your RPM install
(yes I know you shouldn't have to) and what is your complete
configure line for PHP?

I finally got it to work using the following before running the
configure command:
export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/kerberos/lib -lkrb5 -lgssapi_krb5 -lpam"
Thanks for your help.

hi,
I installed php 4.2.1 from source (I needed a recent php for a
project), but now I get an error-message from apache:
couchpotato:/etc# /etc/init.d/apache restart
Reloading apache modules.
Syntax error on line 108 of /etc/apache/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so into server:
/usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: zm_startup_syslog
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started
Ich benutze apache 1.3.x auf Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 (potato):
couchpotato:/home/felix# apache -v
Server version: Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) Debian/GNU
Server built: Apr 29 2000 10:48:16
php was configure'd with ./configure i686-gnu-linux --with-apxs=/usr/bin/apxs
--with-zlib --with-zlib-dir=/usr/ --with-mysql=/usr/ --with-gd
--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/ --with-png-dir=/usr/
Unfortunately the automatic configuration of headers didn't work
(i.e. HAVE_LOCALE_H), so I had to add a lot of #include's by hand.
thanks,

Does anyone knows how to install php with sybase support (using ct-lib)???
Do I have to re-compile my apache??? what variables do i have to set??
When I put my httpd to work, it fails with no error message (only with
FAILED), so i canīt see what is going on!!!
If i compile my php without the line "--with-sybase-ct=/opt/sybase-11.9.2",
the apache loads OK!!

I've installed apache2 and php 4.2.1. and it all works fine here. So the can
work together !
When you want to know the configuration I'm using just let me know.
