I tried your solutions - reinstalled all the libraries, and now am getting a pile of errors from gd. On my own end, before I'd read your post, I tried taking out all references to .gifs, which worked, except I started getting errors about .pngs then... I think I'll just install RedHat 7.2 (I'm running 6.1 atm) and try from scratch again.
