I ran through the whole install of php4 on rh linux 7.2 with mysql support
when I originally setup this machine it had php4.0 on it.
I compiled and installed php4.1 and copied the php.ini-dist to /etc/php.ini
(which is where the old one was)
i then restarted the web server but when i try phpinfo(); its still showing
me php 4.0
any ideas? probably something simple. thanks

You said you compiled, and installed PHP4.1, but you didn't say how your webserver
is configured. Does it have PHP compiled in? If so, you have to recompile your
webserver as well. If it's using mod_php, did you copy the new files over and install
them?

I had this problem on my PC after I modified the lmhosts file. Now I just 127.0.0.1
and it works just fine.

I haven't modified the lmhosts file. I am running a local network using
TCP/IP. Got Apache intro page to show up in the browser, no problem there.
But PHP files not working.
Does the install have to be to the OS directory?
