No there is nothing wrong with your installation (save using Windows, perhaps ;-) ) Actually, this is a Notepad issue. You should *really* look to using UltraEdit. It is probably the best editor around. A simple search from your favorite search engine for UltraEdit will give you plenty of links. In the short term, simply ReName filename.php.txt to filename.php and you should be fine. Also make sure that AutoWrap is not selected in Notepad (can change the looks - text layout.)
