Thanks, I searched the archives of php-general, php-install and php-devel, the FAQ's and Google but haven't found a solution to this particular problem. There are lots of similar problems with one of two solutions: edit ld.so.conf or recompile with --enable- or --with-whatever.
However, finding libphp4.so isn't the problem (ldconfig -v confirms this) and I don't think alloc_globals is an external function from another library, so what --with-* option would fix it? If this is in an archived post or a FAQ I would appreciate a pointer to it. Thanks again.
