I've been on this list for over 2 years and to start with probably asked some seemingly stupid questions. Because of the help from others and perseverance I am now pretty sharp in the platform & extensions we use php with. This knowledge I have passed on to a lot of other users usually off-list because they're probably too afraid of getting a reply back something back like the one you posted.
We should be encouraging people instead of discouraging them. If you can't help someone then please don't bother sending things like this.
