Like Adrian Grygier (see "[PHP-INST] Problem with running apache with php4," 2001-06-20), I have had a problem loading the php module into Apache 1.3.14. All compilations & installations leading up to restarting Apache Server seem to work fine (no errors), but when I try to restart Apache, I am faced with the same error that Adrian saw: apachectl restart: configuration broken, ignoring restart apachectl restart: (run 'apachectl configtest' for details) apachectl configtest: Syntax error on line 238 of /var/lib/apache/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /var/lib/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: undefined symbol: RAND_seed System is a Slackware 7.0, with an assortment of upgrades (Linux kernel is 2.4.3). I have installed OpenSSL 0.9.6 successfully. IMAP-2001 was installed using "make slx SSLTYPE=unix", and the lib & include files were copied over to where the linker would find them. Next, I built the php module for Apache using: # ./php-4.0.6/configure --with-mysql --with-apxs --with-imap Make and make install worked fine. As another clue, if I build this WITHOUT IMAP, and install it, Apache restarts successfully. Ideas where I might be going wrong? Need more information from me? Many, MANY thanks in advance... Hi php-install, I'm trying to install php with this configure: ./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs --with-ldap=/usr/local/o penldap all goes well until I restart apache, which delivers: Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 876 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so into server: /usr/lib/apache/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: ldap_value_free I have already added /usr/local/lib to ld.so.conf and run ldconfig, still having the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Jason Wehmhoener Web Coordinator De Anza College http://www.deanza.fhda.edu
I have just installed PHP 4.0.6 on my server and although the php.ini file shows that short open tags should be on, a look at phpinfo() shows they are off and of course the don't work. I have a huge site already developed using short tags and must turn them on. Does anyone know what is wrong? I even configured PHP with the --enable-short-tags option but still no luck. -- ----------------------------------------------------------- Shane Lambert, Owner Coulee Web http://www.couleeweb.net/
Hi all, a little while ago I wrote, experiencing trouble with squirrelmail & apache. I've managed to catch up with time once again, and had a closer look, and I think that the culprit is perhaps the error below, which occurs if: #LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.so is loaded. Cannot load /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so into server: /usr/local/apache/libexec/libphp4.so: undefined symbol: compiler_globals Any ideas? Has php4 defined itself as the module-formally-formally-known-as-php4? Hmm... Chris Herrmann Far Edge Technology p. 02 99553640 f. 02 99547994 m. 0403 393309 http://www.faredge.com.au
I'm trying to install 4.0.6 on Mac OS X Server 10.0.4 (has Apache 1.3.19). I'm using iODBC with the <ftp://www.openlinksw.com/open40/m2kozzzz.taz> files. I was able to install it once on a Mac OS X box that had Apache 1.3.20 and using PHP 4.0.6 and the same iODBC. All my files are in the /usr/local/src and I'm using sudo with all my commands. Where could it be going wrong?
