I finally solved the problem, thanks to the pros in www.nexial.nl
The solution is simple, simple change the order of "-l" so that it goes
before the "-lpng" when compiling the Apache (near the PHP part).  Look for
the "-l png ..... -lgd" and swap them.  It does the trick!
