I have been having difficulties with installing PHP4 on RedHat 7.
I'm not a linux guru, nor am I an expert. I am still trying to learn as
much as I can about Linux and Web Development.
I'm trying to get PHP (3 or 4) running on a system with RedHat 7. When I
was running RedHat 6.1, I installed PHP3 from the RPMs with absolutely no
problems, but with RedHat7 and the RPMs for 4.0.1 and 4.0.4 I've had no
luck.
I got Apache to restart with the php support, I checked the error log but
the only thing that comes up is:
[Tue Feb 6 13:47:54 2001] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down
[Tue Feb 6 13:48:05 2001] [notice] Apache/1.3.12 (Unix) (Red Hat/Linux)
PHP/4.0.4pl1 mod_perl/1.24 configured -- resuming normal operations
I'm assuming (uh oh) that this means that it should be working properly.
Perl seems to be working fine, but PHP still doesn't work right. When I go
to a page with a .php or .php4 extension it asks me to download it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
