Assuming you're running as a module, it should already work. If you have
your
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3
AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
Lines inside the main server configuration, it should affect all
<VirtualHost>'s as well. If that doesn't work, try adding those lines into
your <VirtualHost> containers and see if it wakes up php.
