Dear everyone

I am facing problems installing PHP4.0 on my system. Following is my setup:
i586 machine running Redhat 6.1? , kernel is 2.2.5-15. I have downloaded php-4.0.4
file. The version of Apache installed on my system is 1.3.12 with mod-so.c also
installed. I have Perl 5.005_03 installed.
I religiously follow the steps outlined in INSTALL in php-4.0.4 directory. My
installation is fine till i get the following error message:
"Sorry i was not able to successfully run APXS. Either
1. Perl is not installed (it is!)
2. Apache was not compiled with DSO support (it is as shown by httpd -l; mod_so.c)
3. apxs is not in your path"
THe first two are ok. I tried giving the path to apxs but the error remains. I am
stuck and have tried nearly everything.
I read that Redhat 6.1/6.2 have some problem with apxs.
I would be really grateful if someone could help me out.
