For BinaryCloud, you need to wait for r2 to be ready soon, but Alex Black may explain to you better the scope and the goals. Other than that I can tell you that BC uses a lot of XML to create and configure applications. It uses principles of meta-programming: programming for generating programs, so in the end it may result in more maintainable applications that run faster because all static processing of data was done while the application code and data was being generated for you.
