Phillip, I had the same problem. It's even worse in IE5 since no error was displayed, just an empty form. To circumvent this, I put PHP controls for navigating. To go back, a button called 'modify' resubmits the data to the form page. On my site, if the user clicks the back button, they get hosed.... what can you do?
