I'm presently running PHP4 as an apache module. One difference that I've noticed is that PHP doesn't produce any output until the script is complete, whereas with Perl one could print "doing this... " , perform something, "done." messages when performing long tasks. Is there any way to have this enabled? It would be quite appreciated, as I have a few web pages that perform very heavy database work and I would like to make the output "hot" so that I can print out statements as it progresses- and if there is a problem, the user will be able to identify where it failed. There doesn't appear to be a php.ini directive that does this, though...
