An invisible frame is the easiest: <frame rows="100%, *> <framset name='main' src='src.php'> <frameset name='invisibleframe' src='background.php'> </frameset> then javascript can send orders to php through the invisible frame. Flash can also talk to php without reloading which allows for some cool stuff.
