cvs [server aborted]: Numeric tag 4.0.4pl1 contains characters other than
digits and '.'

How do I check php-4.0.4pl1 out?

My ~/.cvsrc file contains:
$ cat ~/.cvsrc
cvs -z9
update -d -P
checkout -P
diff -u
