Of course there will not be any output. That's because when you type in the directly type the url in the browser there will not be any referer. Try putting a link from another domain to that page and you will get some output then / try visiting the page through a search engine. i.e make the page come up in you search results and then click on it and when you visit the page it will show you the domain of the search engine.
