Windows is a little stupid
try this from windows
start/run/command
echo > .htaccess
you now have a blank .htaccess file, copy it to wherever you need and edit
it with whatever contents you need.

Couple of months ago my HD died, I replaced it,
re-installed win95, reinstalled apache and php. This
evening I have to create a .htaccess file for a
production web site to generate custom error messages
like
ErrorDocument 404 /errordocs/404
ErrorDocument 500 /errordocs/500
etc.... win 95 will not let me create a file called
.htaccess, I never had this problem on the win 95
before the old HD died!! Anyone know how to fix this?
No win program will let me create this file so I
assume this is a win config issue???
any help appreciated.
