Maybe you should just install a package, much easier. Check out : http://hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Installation_Kits/ phpTriad and nusphere are popular, as are others. Once it's setup play with the configurations, etc. Usually mysql/apache/php will be installed.
