FWIW while I prefer Eclipse overall as an IDE, I found the PHP support in NetBeans to be superior. It's been a year since I used Eclipse for PHP. Maybe the PHP plugins for Eclipse have improved enough. NetBeans supports GIT and Mercurial as well.
