[PHP] does array_slice not work on multidimensional arrays?

I worked around the issue by running the too fat multi-dimed array  
through a foreach{ ...  if($counter <= $myArrLength)  
{ $MyNowSlicedMultiDimArr[$key]=$value; }} ,
 but I'd still (always!) love to hear from you seasoned PHPers on  
this topic (anytime actually!).
I learn the most from your commentary.
