Have you looked into: exif_read_data() ?
Yes, but it won't handle XMP. There is a link in the comments to a user-written function that reads exif data from XMP that PhotoShop CS stores, but I cannot seem to modify it for my purpose. I'm having a hell of a time with the regex and I don't post regex questions until I've fought with them for a few days at least (I usually don't need to post in the end).
I wrote something on it, but I needed PHP to be compiled with --enable-exif and my server wouldn't do it. tedd
