After 25 years in the advertising business, I'd say the PHP Group has a hell of a good copyright infringement and defamation case here. The bums are in Manchester, England... I would doubt it if they are in America. But they are in England so it is questionable. If they were in America, they are protected by parody laws. AOL tried to shutdown www.aolsucks.com and lost. I think the only thing they were able to do is to stop them from using directly taken AOL copyrights. Besides, as someone said, it is humor. And Jason said "Mockery is the biggest form of flattery." I don't think people are gonna goto phpsucks.net and seriously not use PHP because of it. I mean people still use AOL :/ - Kath ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jack Lauman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "idban secandri" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, April 28, 2001 10:15 PM Subject: Re: [PHP] php suck > After 25 years in the advertising business, I'd say the PHP Group has > a hell of a good copyright infringement and defamation case here. > > The bums are in Manchester, England... > > Jack > > idban secandri wrote: > > > > i found this when surfing this morning > > http://www.phpsucks.net/ > > > > -- > > PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) > > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > -- > PHP General Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > To contact the list administrators, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >

I guess the PHP Group has plenty of witnesses to support their case! hi, this one is stumping me! assuming I return a mysql result set from an SQL query, with multiple rows of: field1, field2, field3 is it possible to use something like mysql_data_seek, but set the pointer based on a specific text value of a field, as opposed to specifying a row number? cheers! andrew
Can someone host my STMP server, or can i get a place to get one for free!

Hi, i want to make navigation links like the one given below Top->Category1->SubCategory1->SubCategory1 ---- --------- ------------ ------------ This lies at the top of every page and indicates which category or subcategory the user is in. These are links. One way of doing it is to drill down by parentid and category id recursively. But this is not a very optimized method. It issues one query per category per user. Any alternatives for this in php? Any pointers will be really helpful. thanx for your coperation. subhro PS: This is not like the directory structure of yahoo.com. There u always have the directory information. _____________________________________________________ Chat with your friends as soon as they come online. Get Rediff Bol at http://bol.rediff.com
Hi Rahul A simple solution could be if(empty(num_of_rows)){num_of_rows=some_default_value ;} while (num_of_rows>0){ <tr> what you want to do in that row </tr> } <form method=post action = $PHP_SELF?row=($num_of_row+1) > <input type=submit.......> </form> Well, this is a very raw answer, I haven't even taken care of proper syntax.. But I hope may help you in a small way. If you want do tell me and I will try to write a small example for you. But for that you should tell me the problem in more detail ;-) Subodh Gupta I have learned, Joy is not in things, it is in us. hello, How to open a page in the same window by means of PHP or JavaScript? Thanks
I've been trying to read a page with fsockopen, that page returns a location header but when parsing the header and trying to read the page it points to I get a different result than when using my browser... Does any one have any suggestions how to get the same result as when using a browser? I included the function i wrote to get html pages... and this is the basic structure of my code to read the page... $page = GetPage("GET blah.com/blah.html"); $newurl = parse the $page for the location header; $page = GetPage("GET $newurl"); the final result is different as I said than when using my browser... the site i'm trying to access somehow knows that i'm not using a browser or something like that any ideas at all would be welcome!! Ali Shahid function GetPage($url,$fp, $cookies = "", $body = "", $agent = "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows 98; DigExt)") { //parse url preg_match("/(.*?) (http:\/\/)?(.*?)\/(.*)/", $url, $match); $method = strtoupper($match[1]); $host = $match[3]; $uri = $match[4]; echo $fp; //prepare headers to be sent to server $p = "$method /$uri HTTP/1.1\r\n"; $p .= "Host: $host\r\n"; $p .= "User-Agent: $agent\r\n"; $p .= "Accept: */*\r\n"; if ($method == "POST") { $p .= "Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded\r\n"; $p .= "Content-Length: ".strlen($body)."\r\n"; } $p .= "Connection: Keep-Alive\r\n"; $p .= "Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate\r\n"; $p .= "Accept-Language: he\r\n"; $p .= "Authorization: Basic ZG9yb246bG92ZW1l\r\n"; if ($cookies) $p .= "Cookie: $cookies\r\n"; $p .= "\r\n"; if ($method == "POST") $p .= $body."\r\n"; //open connection if(!$fp) { echo "opening socket"; $fp = fsockopen("$host", 80, &$errno, &$errstr, 60); $opened=1; } if(!$fp) echo "Error Opening $host - $errno - $errstr\n<br>"; //start reading page else { //socket_set_timeout($fp, 60); fputs($fp, $p); while((!feof($fp)) ) { $SourcePage .= fgets($fp, 1024); } if($opened) { echo "closing"; fclose($fp); } } //return the page return($SourcePage); }
I have been doing a few test pages trying to figure out how sessions work. The SID is not being automatically added to my urls so I assume that means that php was not compiled with -enable-trans-sid (I'm on a virtual server so I can't access php.ini) So that means that I need to add <?=SID?> to all my urls, correct? Can I change the value of session_name() and still have the above work for the new session name? I tried it and the session_name was changed to the new value, but then SID seemed to be empty after that. Is there something I am missing or is that the way it is supposed to work? Jennifer
im playing with the cgi version of php for a change and im trying to work out how to set a different include path on each vhost but i cant work it out. TIA, Cameron
Hello: Since no one asks my question about access to InterBase from PHP, I'm considering MySQL ;-) I would like to know more about the reliability and functionality from PHP users, I'm going to make searchs on a database with big text in Blob fields. Right now, in my web (it's made in Delphi) I'm using the Rubicon product to make searchs on a database and it works really fast, my questions are: Can I use MySQL to search for a substring in a Memo Field? Can I tell MySQL to only returns me a subset of results, I mean only 10 results? How fast is MySQL? I have a database with 11000 records (not too many) but with a big Memo Field and I want to search for words to show the results that match the users query.
