My 2 Cents > ASP is a Platform that supports a number of different microsoft languages which includes ASP Javascript, ASP VBScript, ASP.Net C# & ASP.Net VB ... ASP has a couple of good points to it... most notably is that it is backed by the largest computer company out there.. Microsoft... also, from my experience as a college level instructor, they teach microsoft programming languages at the colleges... there is nothing spectacular about the programming languages that ASP supports that cannot be done with PHP... and I should say that that is my opinion...
I know Yahoo & Google use PHP in some of their applications... also Lufthansa (Airline) uses PHP... Vonage... Broadvoice.. the list goes on...
