No idea what a 'TLA' is in this context, but you're definitely missing the point. There is no such thing as 'client side java', it's just Java, whether it's an applet or a servlet or a cli app. Java is compiled into bytecode then executed, while Javascript is parsed like (you guessed it) a scripting language. Furthermore, Java was created by Sun, while Javascript was created by Netscape.
