Yeah, Hotmail will blacklist just about anyone these days. Legit or not.

I used to work for some legit double opt-in email marketers. We were
blacklisted everywhere even though out system was 100% legit. Our
unsubscribe system actually worked and all that. Eventually we were
on every blacklist I searched, just because we sent a lot of email
that people really did opt-in for. And once you get added to a
blacklist you rarely if ever get removed.

One part that was kind of funny was the deal with AOL. Our executives
boss guys called them up and made a deal for us to get added to their
'whitelist' so our mail would be accepted in spite of our blacklisted
status. They led us on for weeks about the whitelist, then we found
out there was no whitelist and that all our deal making efforts were
in vain.

People don't want mass email. Even if they said they did at some
point, eventually they change their mind and complain to someone,
simply because they are scared your unsubscribe system is bogus. A
single complaint can get you blacklisted. And the guys who run the
blacklists do not care whatsoever about how legit your system may be.

I'm so glad I don't work there anymore. Constantly having to write
emails to blacklist maintainers asking to get removed.. What a lost
cause.
