Or even:

    switch (@$_GET['ORDER']):
      case 'ASC':
      case 'DESC':
        $SPORDER = $_GET['ORDER'];
        break;
      case 'RAND':
        $SPORDER = 'RAND()';
        break;
      default :
        $SPORDER = 'ASC';
    endswitch;

(which, I think, also gives the requested result for 'RAND').
