Hello, take a look at http://www.turcksoft.com/en/e_mmc.htm. Basically there is a 2 to 10x performance increase generally. I wrote a web based front end to Turck MMCache to make encoding scripts easier, its available at http://phpcoder.shadonet.com

If your scripts are database bound you wont see as much of a performance increase but the load average will likely still drop.

I did some benchmarking and with 1000 concurrent requests per second on a p4 2.6 running FreeBSD 5.1 the load went to 110, running MMCache it went to 32.

Hi there i was wondering if there was an open source port of a php script
compiler for the server. Will this make alot of difference in performance
at all. I know this may have been asked many times, is the encoders also a
compile i dont particularly need to encode/decode code but compile for
performance advancement.
