What's the problem with paying for something if
a) it does the job
b) saves you hundreds of hours in development
c) provides your business with an income stream (you aren't giving away these business cards, are you?)
I agree it isn't cheap, but don't rule it out based on price alone. Consider the ROI (return on investment).
And no, I don't work for PDFLib -- I've never even used it!
