Egads, I figured it out this morning. It was the 33-1/3rd error I'd fixed and about the 6.28*10^23rd new thing I had used/learned that morning between PHP and MySQL and HTML forms. I was expecting it to print it directly to the screen just by invoking it, LOL! OH boy, I was tired. When I caught the error as a return value and THEN printed that, all became well.
