I am thinking of setting up strong authentication for a lamp-system based on smart-cards: First authenticate the user with a two-way authentication with apache (openssl). I hope I can put the client certificat on a smartcard. Then read the client certificate within php from an apache environment variable. Has someone already set up such a system and used it successfully in praxis?
