Do you mean you want them to be able to say how long a text field should be? If so, try this: for ($i=0; $i < $fields; $i++) { $fieldName = "field$i"; echo "<tr><td><input type=text name=\"$fieldName\" value=\"${$fieldName}\" size=\"$size\">\n"; } $size would be a form parameter that you allow the user to set along with the field name and value.
