As well as configuration differences it could be different versions of php. Modern ones expect $_SERVER for example. I might like to blame IIS for a lot of things, but I think you will probably find its not.Further note that it is not just this script, but many PHP scripts that I run on IIS - they all work perfectly on Apache (on Windows and Linux)..
