Actually, it was not so much your comment that offended me, but the fact that you chose to reprint his.

Ah, but the salient point, my PC friend, is that you are *not* a woman. And I take offense at your treatment of women as weak-minded children who need a man to stand up and speak for them. In the future, if you have a problem with someone's behavior on the list I suggest you take it to private Email instead of getting out your soap box and berating people as if you were a schoolmarm and they were children.
No soap box required. I think your response speaks for itself.
The truth is that while female coders may be offended, I'm offended by this, as well. I don't come to work, or check my email, to hear stuff like this. I think that I have every right to complain to the list, in the hopes that somebody else won't further this off-topic discussion, thereby wasting my time and others (of course, perhaps by responding to this, I have wasted more of the list's time than any offending follow-ups might have).
I don't wish to start a flame war, and it was not my intention to be condescending or insulting. I apologize, and respectfully back out of the room.
