I agree...

The red book "Professional PHP Programming"
(WROX "Programmer to Programmer" series)
is an exellent PHP book

but, if you're looking for novice level stuff, WROX
also published a companion called "Beginning PHP4".

i was fluent in perl when i picked up the professional
one, and had no problems with it... but i wouldnt
reccomend it to people with little or no programming
experience... the professional book seems to take for
granted a grasp of fundamental programming concepts,
if you're a true novice, get the "beginning php4" one
first (and then professional :)
